Your trust matters to us.
State of Work is a national worker-listening initiative operated by Avren Corp. ("Avren," "we," "us," or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through StateOfWork.org, how we use it, and the choices you have about your information.

Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we or our service providers may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and general website usage data.
We may use cookies and similar technologies for website functionality, security, analytics, and advertising measurement.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information collected through State of Work to:
- Document and better understand employment experiences
- Analyze responses and identify recurring themes
- Produce aggregate statistics, research, and public reports
- Publish selected participant stories when permission has been granted
- Improve the website and participation experience
- Maintain website security and prevent fraudulent submissions
- Respond to inquiries and privacy requests
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
Your responses may be included in aggregate research and reporting even if you do not authorize publication of your individual story.
State of Work collects voluntary, self-reported information. We do not claim that participant responses constitute a statistically representative sample of American workers.
3. Your Story and Publication Choices
You decide whether your individual story can be published.
Your responses may be analyzed and included in aggregate findings without separate publication permission.
However, we will not publicly publish excerpts from your written account or your audio recordings unless you expressly authorize us to do so.
Publication permission is optional and separate from participation.
If you authorize publication, we may edit excerpts to remove identifying details, improve clarity, or shorten them without materially changing their meaning.
We will not intentionally publish your name or contact information as part of your story without additional permission.
Important: Even when names are removed, details within a story may sometimes make a person recognizable. We cannot guarantee complete anonymity.
4. How We Share Information
We may share information with:
Service providers: Companies that help us host, maintain, secure, and operate the website or analyze submissions.
Research and public audiences: Aggregate findings and reports that do not intentionally identify individual participants.
Public audiences, with permission: Selected written excerpts or audio recordings that participants have separately authorized for publication.
Legal authorities: When disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect legal rights, safety, or security.
Business successors: If Avren undergoes a merger, acquisition, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable privacy protections.
We do not sell participants' submitted workplace narratives or contact information.
5. State of Work and Avren
State of Work is operated by Avren Corp., the company developing Avren, a tool designed to help people organize and document workplace experiences.
Participating in State of Work does not require joining Avren.
If you express interest in Avren, you may be offered an opportunity to join its early-access waitlist.
Joining the Avren waitlist requires a separate, affirmative choice.
We will not automatically add you to Avren's marketing list or transfer your written State of Work account into an Avren product account.
If you voluntarily join the waitlist, your email address and relevant signup information may be used to communicate with you about Avren, as described in Avren's Privacy Policy.
